THE PURPLE
DAFFODIL
by Josie Santomauro
You’ve been given a crop of daffodils to tend They are growing wonderfully Yellow, straight up, all in a row.
On the outskirts of your crop looking odd on its own is a small purple daffodil
Do you really want this small purple daffodil amongst your perfect yellow crop?
You could pull it out and it’s gone!
You could try to make it fit in try to change it’s colour or make it grow as fast?
You could ignore it But weeds may start to grow it’ll become quite an eyesore
You could attend a ‘Different Daffodils’ gardening course and tend to it, allowing it to grow at it’s own pace, in it’s own way.
You’ll be so proud of your special flower
Some days the purple daffodil may wilt and you wonder where you went wrong?
It’s your duty as a gardener not to give up or your special daffodil may shrivel up and die.
